The Maltese Holiday

THE MALTESE HOLIDAY is a film available on Pure Flix about Shea and Michael, two singles who find themselves alone at a Maltese resort. After some initial animosity, they opt to make it an adventure together. A lot of action and discovery come out of their new relationship. Unfortunately, things go awry when they both get drunk. Shea makes a pass at Michael and asks him to stay the night in her room. But he, concerned for her well-being, declines. In the morning, Shea feels foolish and unsure. Has she ruined everything?

MALTESE HOLIDAY is a fun-filled adventure feature that is all about two souls destined to meet each other. The movie consists of pretty Mediterranean shots as well as great chemistry between the leads plus dramatic adventures which makes it more romantic comedy than anything else in my opinion. The dialogue from time to time talks about family values while there are also some visual references to church buildings with crosses on top seen during aerial shots but apart from that nothing major religiously speaking. It’s just that one scene where shea gets drunk in her room which could have been avoided by not mentioning Jesus or Christmas at all so I would recommend this for children above 12 years old.

Sexual Content: A woman under influence asks man if he will stay overnight with her in same room; however this does not happen as gentlemanly behavior prevails hereabouts because next morning she feels foolish so they only share kiss before going separate ways.

Nudity: One scene where male upper body nudity shown briefly when shirt unbuttoned

Alcohol Use: Yes alcohol is used quite often throughout film especially by two main characters who get drunk and admit drinking too much before things went wrong.

Smoking or Drugs: None used during whole film.

Shea, an overly excited woman on a plane, films herself obnoxiously next to the grumpy man sitting beside her Michael, who is very vocal about how irritating she is. In Malta, Shea tries to talk to Michael but he isn’t interested. So she makes a video complaining about him and calls him “9C,” after his seat number. She jokes that the best part of the flight was never having to see him again.

But as luck would have it, they’re singles booked at the same hotel. More fighting ensues until they agree to sightsee together. They fall in love. Shea gets drunk and wants to sleep with Michael but he acts like a gentleman and puts her to bed.

The next morning, Shea feels dumb and unsure of everything. Kristen voices her skepticism about Shea’s whirlwind romance with a stranger back home. Did Shea make too many mistakes for anything lasting? Is this really it or is she just hoping?

THE MALTESE HOLIDAY is a fun adventure about two single people who seem destined to meet in Malta. There’s beautiful Mediterranean footage, great chemistry between the leads and lots of adventure mixed with drama it’s a cute little rom-com-dram;). Some dialogue emphasizes family importance and there are a couple visual nods toward church/Christ/cross stuffs. BUT there’s the drunken scene in Shea’s room And also sad that Jesus/Nativity/real meaning of Christmas aren’t overtly mentioned throughout MALTESE HOLIDAY:/ So maybe caution w/older kids & up
