Janma Runna

Janma Runn is a film produced by Ganesh Films and Sri Adhikari Brothers (Marathi). It tells the story of an aged man who is deceived by his own son.

Anna (Manoj Joshi) lives with his wife Vasudha (Sukanya Kulkarni Mone) and son Dilip (R.K. Tushar) in Dapoli village. He had been a teacher for many years, therefore he is admired by the villagers. Ashok Gurav (Sushant Shelar) becomes appointed as a village collector. Formerly Ashok had been Anna’s student.

Dilip secures admission to study electronic engineering in Bombay. While going to Bombay, he requests Rs 1.50 lakhs from his father but Anna gives him only Rs 10,000 which he refuses to take.

On finishing his studies, Dilip secures employment in USA where after one day he comes back at Dapoli because he wants five lakhs rupees from his father. Following this demand of Dilips’, Anna gives him 5 lakhs then immediately he goes back to US again. In addition to that eight months later Dilip returns from America and persuades his parents to come along with him thereby obtaining power of attorney from Anna under the pretense of signing their visa papers but fails even once taking them anywhere outside India instead misusing it on top of that too without any limit What happens next?

Kanchan Adhikari and Manjushree Gokhale have written a good story but twist are very convenient especially when Anna gives power of attorney in Dilip’s name. Kanchan Adhikari’s screenplay is engaging only at some places . Emotions do touch heart but convenience takes away drama’s believability factor which should be considered lowest point in this screenplay adaptation according its biggest fault lies therefrom Kanchan Adhikari and Manjushree Gokhale’s dialogues are good at places and average at others.

Anna is played by Manoj Joshi who does justice to the role. Vasudha is excellently portrayed by Sukanya Kulkarni Mone. Dilip is decently performed by R.K Tushar while Ashok Gurav receives fair support from Sushant Shelar. Vasant Soman plays Anna’s friend quite well but Shashi Pendse as Uma provides just about enough support needed for her character. Manjushree Gokhale, Niharika Raizada and Mahesh Thakur do what they have been asked to do in their respective characters. Other actors/actresses fit into their roles adequately.

Kanchan Adhikari directs the movie fairly. Vaishali Samant handles music alongside lyrics which come out nice; there being only one song throughout the film. Nitin Hiwarkar on background score does his job alright. Suresh Deshmane captures beautiful images through his lenses Siddhesh Salvi set designs appropriately. Anand Kamat editing works well too Janma Runn ends up being too ordinary so as to appeal large sections of public therefore it will not succeed commercially speaking.
