Free Birds

Free Birds

Definitely, it’s a story about turkeys. It isn’t an offshoot of the popular mobile game, Angry Birds. Free Birds is not the best title, it lacks punch. But that’s okay, Free Birds have not enjoyed a clearly defined marketing strategy. The reason for this Free Birds is funny and mixes genres has some unexpected turns in the storyline. At the same time, it is filled with quite unique comedic elements and presents great sense of light-heartedness with impeccable editing for creating a delightful and amusing family movie.

Free Birds is not the classic fish out of water or an underdog type of story, for instance. There were all the same, this thematic formula seemed to be the winning (though terribly Wuchschmard) always has been the children/family movies and is not normal takes in Free Birds. At the start of the film, there is a turkey by the name of Reggie (Owen Wilson) who has full knowledge that turkey is on the table in Thanksgiving.

Reggie attempts to warn the others in the farm’s flock about their impending doom but instead Ruskaya beginning and a sudden turn of perspectives leaves Reggie up and about in an extended sequence of events that eventually leads him into even more surreal set of events which, for all purposes, end up looking like a battle somewhere in the overlooking AVATAR; the movie’s subtitle is ‘gets turkeys off the menu’. Yes, you read correctly.

No I did not miswrite it Free Birds and AVATAR will bear some resemblances. The trailer certainly cannot explain the story properly, even though attempts will be made to do that. Well but talking about much of the struggle does not seem to make sense for purpose of this article as I am not really keen on spoiling things for you especially if you are deciding on watching it (regardless of whatever I address it here manage your expectations. Most likely, it might actually help).

Jimmy Hayward kept ‘Free Birds,’ the animated film he directed and wrote (“Free Birds”), up and going, and yep that was not a bird pun. His works encompass both directing and voice acting for this piece. The movie offers more fast-paced comic action than sentimental drama. The latter however is never entirely absent.

The energy is commercial and provides ample space for melodies. One could not miss the perfectly timed jokes. I have to admit that a few times I sprouted from my seat in that banging laughter Ronnie Rascal’s joke about ‘cranberry’ and quickly resolves the notion of stupidity that turkey dominates. The voice double cast of Jake was made by irreplaceable Woody Harrelson who executed the character of a macho some great moments guy precisely.

The character was one-dimensional all in all but performed excellently. The voice cast not just glued the movie together but harmoniously supplemented Aaron Poole, Chris Williams, Danny McBride, Jamie Foxx and other well known voices. They are not loud and quite the opposite interesting.

Let’s be honest, there aren’t many people above ten years of age who had any intention of watching Free Birds, even if they knew about the film. The most unlikely of prospects are these titles that you may have dismissed as a possible candidate from the very beginning. Sometimes. Free Birds does not get many things right.

It’s also not a great film by any stretch of the imagination. Some adults may even get offended by the finale as well which includes several inopportune moments that are quite uncomfortable and a closing remark that is ambiguous and ill-advised in its intent. Still, kids will love it and then probably wonder why we eat meat (parents, prepare for that). With all that said, we can finally answer the question about the purpose of Free Birds. For short, simple and entertaining, stress-free movie, Free Birds does get the job done rather well.
