Air Collision

Air Collision

There are many films, where the viewer can roughly tell what will happen next. This is not the case with The Asylum’s Air Collision. No one expected what happened next because fairly sane people don’t conceive a story in this fashion. Writer/director Liz Adams surely must be made of interesting stuff if she conceived the idea of this american disaster epic that is entirely absurd in all its forms.

I first saw this picture a month ago, when I had my late night movie session with two friends. We didn’t take any substances or drinks but if you were in the living room, you’d think we were all high on gas. A week ago, I saw the film in the company of Uncle Creepy. Among his comments, half the time he was chuckling and the other half he was dumbfounded. “I’m mystified” is a phrase that several times escaped his lips when he witnessed the madness.

From its opening seconds till the credits roll, Air Collision is nothing short of an insane. The way the events occur, it is almost like a disaster film. It is as if the director’s vision was just to keep on going without any interruptions allowing the viewer to comprehend the chaos that is occurring on the screen.

A solar storm has caused a collision between Airforce One and a 747 to become utterly inevitable as satellites are plummeting to the Earth at a rapid rate. Airforce One’s Anaheim Boeing defense system does seem to have an issue that would undoubtedly please HAL9000. The only person who can prevent this collision from happening is air traffic controller Reginald VelJohnson known for his roles in Die Hard and “Family Matters”. The only flight attendant on the passenger jet is Jordan Ladd from Club Dread who is in charge of the serpentine.

Quite frankly, I did not even comprehend what was occurring at least half the time despite deriving quite a lot of fun. I was seeing a film where people put baggage into an enormous hole in the cabin of their aircraft and this is not the most ridiculous thing that occurs in the film.

This Air Collision review is long overdue but every time I think about how to tackle it, I am confronted with the question of how do I articulate just how crazy Air Collision really is. And then it struck me that there cannot be a way other than to use my own words. The audio that you are about to hear was taken just a few minutes after the end of my first Air Collision game which I played at midnight.

I recorded voice notes as I had other views and opinions that needed addressing in a review. I listen to it now and I can’t help but think that the six minute audio exposition that I made was not so much explaining about details, but how I would encourage you to watch this film than what a typical review can achieve in its written form. Not simply what is shown, but the excitement in my voice and the frustration I felt trying to explain how I just watched what I watched.

If there are people looking for spoilers here, I’d like to point out that for over one thing I am about to uncover, there are about ten or more surprising happenings of which I have not even said a single word.

Air Collision is the movie that depicts The Asylum at their absolute worst as I really cannot think of a more ridiculous movie.
