Behind the Veil (2023)

Well, this movie I am going to talk about is different from others. I will not say it is a more interesting movie, and I also will not say that it is a very bad movie. There is something in this movie which I want to review as well.

While watching this movie, I remember I was irritated for some reason and I thought to myself, if I was in a similar situation, I would have done everything possible to avoid it.

Let me put more emphasis on the way Darrel treats his wife Stacey. Darrel is a pastor and he is married but he cheats on his wife. Not only does the woman suffer from his behavior, but she also tries to talk some sense into him. Unfortunately, he remains unmoved and treats her really badly. On the contrary, he continues to lie to her and even has multiple affairs with other women.

To some extent, his character has affected his family and the wife, for her part, is trying to cope with the reality that the man whom she considers her husband, cares so little in the family. It is as if she is all alone.

With the times changing, Stacy crossed paths with a new guy named David. He dealt drugs but surprisingly, they hit off well. On the flipside of things, they ended up having an affair which resulted in an unexpected pregnancy. Things started to take a good turn when David and Stacy began planning to move far away from their current locations to start fresh with a family. But David lacked the decisiveness to commit and abandon his drug business in town.

David ordered Stacy to wait for him but he never showed up. When he was finally seen, she was furious that he betrayed her.

After some time, he acknowledged all the wrongs he did to his family, knowing it was too late because his wife fell in love with another man.

At this point, Darrel was finally coming to terms with his responsibilities. To his children and wife, he wanted to change for the better, which was a good first step.

In the midst of all this chaos, the romance between David and Stacy flourished.

David’s business was under the scrutiny of a detective, so he used Stacey to transport his goods to his suppliers. He endangered her, and Stacey was fine with it since she was seeking the attention her husband lacked. Stacey’s perception of love is that it is powerful and her husband was fortunate to be forgiven by her after everything he put her through. The movie has indeed changed my perspective. One thing I am certain of is that husbands should never cheat on their wives because as long as there is genuine love in the relationship, no heart will be broken in the process. Even I wish this was the case now. If I could change one thing, it would be that as long as Darrel did not ask for forgiveness, he wouldn’t have done something he regretted. I am glad he came to his senses and told her that he is a changed man. Now it was time for the wife to repent, but Stacey had already shed that old life and it was only a matter of time before she blew her cover.

In order for him to turn David in for arrest, the police officer cinches a deal with her that she, ultimately, shakes her head to. What she did do, however, was alert the police officer that wants to arrest David, who is romantically interested in her, about her family, my family, and this is where the film comes to a close.
