An examination on a chess game is an interesting idea, It sets the stage for Evidence, and every scene is like passing through a maze of events where hints mislead as much as they guide. Before delving into the enigma, A series of murders are committed. The first clue is found in someone’s car. As he goes along his way, he finds a bag with a camera and stethoscope which lights up the entire episode. When the camera is turned on, it becomes the eye through which the film unspools, exposing culprits and revealing why they were killing.
Priya Ramakrishnan (Manasa Joshi), an investigating officer who has been suspended for reasons undisclosed calls back by her superiors to handle this case. Her first suspect being Doctor Kevin (Robo Ganesan), who becomes pivotal.
The chess game acts as an allegory for this ever changing suspense story. Praveena CP directs this low budget movie trying to bring in different angle to investigative thrillers that will break monotony by using only two characters; investigator & suspect with their interaction mirrored in chess game but intermittent songs and flashbacks that tell a backstory narrated by doctor can be entertaining at times but also feel like repetitions.
Evidence starts off promisingly enough but fails to deliver on its potential towards end Though it seems interesting initially. Given execution lacks depth and coherence at certain points. While Narrative Struggles With Pacing Which Hinders Development Of Tension And Suspense Portrayal Of A Quirky Doctor By Robo, Ganesan. Who Helps In Unraveling? The Mysteries Through Investigation Officer Adds Another Layer To This Movie Both actors manage keep audiences hooked during their chats while playing strategically. Unfortunately rest of cast including Aakarsh, Adithya, Rachita, Poojitha, Bobe, Gowda Pavan Suresh Manmohan Rai Shiva kumar, Aradhya give amateurish performances.
Some parts are underdeveloped leaving a void in an otherwise good storyline Technicalities may sometimes take center stage but efforts have been made to keep viewers interested all through The investigator may close off the case but doctor’s fate hangs in balance at the end although we might not see last of him Sequel called Raavana Returns also appears to be in making so Director hints at continuation which leaves one feeling as if there is still more ground left to cover.
