Jeff Dunham: Very Special Christmas Special
Nearing the Christmas holiday, Jeff embarks on an interesting idea for his version of A Christmas Carol and so he decides which of his characters would best suit the classic roles. Walter is obvious there is only man who can do Scrooge! But when Jeff casts Bubba J, Peanut, Little Jeff and Achmed in their thespian roles, they are not very happy and so in this stand-up comedy movie, all hell breaks loose on his plans of action.
What we think. Our opinion.
To my knowledge, this cast comic does not have any dual stand-up capturing the stage in two comedic specials ways neither does release a program in two different pubic televisions within the same year. Having recently wrapped up a three-special contract with Comedy Central with the last special called Jeff Dunham: I’m With Cupid, Jeff is now turning to Prime Video in the US for a Christmas-themed special entitled Jeff Dunham’s Scrooged-Up Holiday Special.
The twist here is instead of simply creating a Christmas special as he has in the past, Jeff claims that Webb scuttle is meant to be something like a trailer to a performance of Webb characters on the classic story of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
This special actually adds a couple of new characters to the cast who are guaranteed to be product placements and even throws in a few new form of ventriloquist tricks to evergreen what you would see from Paul Zerdin or Nina Conti. Some of these characters. Little Jeff and Peanut, much like the real adverts, are available for purchase in Amazon. So, it does not provoke anybody’s surprise that the Prime Video special featured characters that are already for sale in their stores and in which both bits offered great comedic perspectives.
In this particular episode though, Little Jeff is a tad different, instead of being the character portrayed as a puppet of Peanut, he has been conceptualized as an independent character having his own performance. And although some might argue that this voice might be just a notch too similar to that of Walter’s voice and shares some of the irritable voice as well, the purpose of this section is to highlight what a good christmas gift little Jeff is for everyone.
The other entertainer this holiday is Peanut who now has a more subdued version of Peanut who acts more like a Jose Jalapeno. This act, however, was among the most comedic moments of the night amidst the obnoxious quarrelling that appeared to happen from all directions. Achmed on the other hand does not disappoint as the last performer and this is where you would spot some of the newer Tina and Mark things I mentioned before and they are quite effective.
Then again, the greatest comic relief of them all is when Achmed gets completely torn to pieces during the performance which I can’t tell whether it’s an impersonation or it is genuine because sometimes this occurs and sometimes it doesn’t and when it DOES happen then it is one of the greatest moments in Geoff’s act. The whole scene becomes chaotic and comic especially when Jeff suddenly goes off script which normally doesn’t happen.
One little thing that I don’t particularly find appealing is the fact that Jeff Dunham’s Scrooged-Up Holiday Special is a deleted version of a peculiarly bizarre puppet show of arm, swear words that leaves me scratching my head as to what on earth this celebration is doing on Prime Video. Like, do I have to even ask if Jeff Dunham is now screaming ‘cut that stupid bloody rupee out’?
Mind you, there’s an almost $9 subscription including ads for Prime Video. Why on earth would anybody spend that amount just to see some freaking bleeped crap. It’s as if watching Goodfellas on TBS, totally pointless and I am getting angrier by the minute.
As for Jeff Dunham’s Scrooged-Up Holiday Special, it’s a pretty well done Let Me Put It This Way; A Jeff Dunham special which to say the least has a rather lackluster opening but an amazing and rather loud closing.
