Mr. Destiny

Mr.-Destiny

The film Mr. Destiny tells the story of a man that has lost focus, and through the lens of comedy, he realizes the importance of life. Larry burrows has done his best to ignore soccer for the last twenty years, but the phone call he gets makes it clear he missed the decisive shot in the school soccer match. he is still working for the same undeserving company with over a million fair weather friends who have all but forgotten Larry and his new job.

Naturally, he loves his wife, Ellen. They also routinely commemorate Burrows’s birthday which, and I’m sure this will come as a surprise to many, was not celebrated this year. As a matter of fact, Cypher is a declarative awesome what if and while most people point out how man can be different from what he has become, Larry turns this idea over into the direction of a caution against getting carried away. Now it is laughable how he wished to be overwhelmed by this emotion. For two decades now, to this day, the thought of it has excited an in him the distinct sensation of sliding and loosening himself from the edge of the feeling.

At his life’s most low point, Larry meets an eccentric man at a bar who calls himself Mike (Mr. Destiny). After serving him a drink called “there is no use crying over spilt milk”, Larry is advised that there is no need to cry over something uncontrollable and promises to make Larry see how different his life would have been had he not lost the game so disgracefully.

Larry is now unceremoniously transported to a fascinating variety of places and times that specifically fall under the idea of ‘what if’. In this instance, he is the head of the company and the husband of the owner’s daughter, Cindy Jo, and the owner of a big house fully equipped with a library, a butler, a chauffeur, and several cars. At first, he fails to appreciate the lavishness of the lifestyle he leads with throughout his experience but also struggles to wrap his head around the idea of being the president along with other related things, but soon enough, Mike starts to appear on scene to help him understand everything.

Larry comes to appreciate the past he used to consider boring dull, which is a clear sign of growth and maturity within him. There is a biblical principle that paraphrases perfectly what I Timothy 6:6-10 states: godliness accompanied with contentment is great gain… For the love of money is one of the roots of all evil.

The foremost realization we need to achieve is God’s control over our lives, as Christians, is absolute but to negate the potential learning that this film imparts regarding the importance of being grateful. It needs to be understood that life can be of two outcomes, simply because God is great doesn’t mean effort is not expected. Starting off on this premise makes it easier to comprehend the lessons that this movie is trying to teach.

Despite sexual undertones, crude remarks, and even nudity, Mr. Destiny has its laughs as Jeremy Josh Duhamel played the part of Larry Burrows and there is a general consent among audiences that he does a really good job with the role of Larry Burrows. Keeping these shortcomings in mind, Mr. Destiny is definitely worth watching.

In a lovely amalgamation of multiple genres, the film magnificently blends aspects of IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE, BACK TO THE FUTURE, and FIELD OF DREAMS, according to one reviewer. But alongside those aspects, it also answers the age old dilemma “What if I had taken a different path, where would I be today?”. At the same time, James Orr, who directed the film along with writing it, remarks that the purpose of the movie is “Focus on what you have at that moment, appreciate your life history. It is quite impressive I think.”
