The final reason that I watched this film was that the trailer seemed quite professional, there was a group from the unknown Dallas movie scene that did it, and one of my buddies actor-comedian Fabian XIV played a minor role of a gun toting down henchman. But the question remains, was the film itself worth watching or was it another wasted opportunity for those who bought the ticket to stream or to buy the DVD?

Thankfully it was the former as the film didn’t have what every other indie film seems to have which is having an overly choked plot, self indulgent music videos, exceeding the limits of a budget with too much to accomplish and bad actors. Because none of these negative aspects occurred, this film is a total hoot (no pun intended) and flows fast and in the blink of an eye you realize that it’s over.

The fights that leave the character traumatized are hardly visible, but the Foley serves its purpose in portraying the character’s trauma very well; both the politician and the crime lord’s story arcs were convincing, without being overwhelming; the sex and violence were not gratuitous nor did they feel like the sole selling point of the film; all the action sequences, instead of being contrived and reminding one of the poor production value of the indie, were essential to the advancement of the narrative.

While the movie did receive a limited release in some theaters around DFW it would fit well among a pack of five other films in the Action genre. It’s not a Maverick Home Entertainment’s affair and neither is it one that seems to be bottom tier nonsense the likes of Troma; rather, it shall evoke the better works of Lionsgate/York/Sterling Entertainment/Millennium films/Emmet-furla.

Having said that, it is a simple film that is what it is and doesn’t stop nor detract from what it is meant for. And any indie which is decent enough not to mess around and become too smart for the act, deserves a watch I’ll say!
