The Starving Games

The Starving Games

Fecal Shitfest Happy, y’all! In this film, the author ever made a parody of ‘the killing’, how does one even make a parody of? It is not hard to imagine that this is about a sick woman of only parasitic Phoenix co playing Revolviolento and recruiting unsuspecting younglings to fight in an intergalactic battle. The titular Turkey Eaters (2013) do exactly the same thing with a woman named Kantmiss Evershot (Maiara Walsh), who portrays herself as residing in District 12, an area where there is no sustenance and everyone is starving.

Blah blah blah, more or less like Hunger Games, she has to kill many other young people in a game held by the nation to win sufficient food for her town. In between, she has to indulge in great moments such as Avatar (2009) and The Expendables’ (2010) parodies or the demolition of the lousy band LMFAO. How amazing is that?

What on earth drove someone to make The Starving Games (2013)? Is it legitimacy and creativity at its peak or a tacky and shameless scheme to milk the unoriginal and mediocre book-to movie franchises for all they are worth? It is absurd how someone can get 4.5 MILLION DOLLARS to produce a movie that is as lousy as the one being discussed here.

The film essentially narrates its events in near real-time while always having its script template set to Copy-Paste straight to Hollywood. So apart from the fact that the jokes get really terrible, this is also a snooze-fest. If you watched the first film, this remade version is watching paint dry dry. Even the parody features that pose great possibilities do nothing to elevate the situation. Furthermore, the film’s production quality is so poor that it appears to have been filmed on a terribly old iPhone.

The humor is juvenile and is based on dick and poop jokes and some pop culture references that are supposed to distract from the awful plot. More specifically, the movie seems to enjoy a lot of reference to Youtube such as the double rainbow guy, the Annoying Orange or even Psy’s Gangnam Style. I just have a lot of questions regarding that for Friedberg and Seltzer.

What were they thinking in the writing room, when they were coming up with this horrible idea? “I know what people find funny- that Gangnam style dance, that will, never get old.” Guess what mates, it’s super old. There’s also a very poorly presented scene about Twitter which was so painful I wanted to break my television.

To make matters worse, the film has the horrible blooper reel to start the credits, and would you believe it the bloopers are not funny as well. Are you serious? I didn’t even let out a chuckle.

The only saving grace of this film was Maiara Walsh the lead actress who you’d expect to be pretty good at acting by now. What I mean is, she’s a decent Jennifer Lawrence knock off. So it must be kind of upsetting for her to be in a film like this.

In a bizarre turn of events, while watching The Starving Games, one of my cats decided that it was the right time to relieve himself. Out of sheer desperation, I had to leave my seat to scoop the poop off of the floor. Attempting to scoop that poop out of the litter tray was far better and interesting than the viewing of this film. I think that is probably the best sentiment with which to finish this review. This is just not worth it!
